I am Chen Zuo (左 晨), currently a doctoral course student in the Optical Wireless Power Transmission (OWPT) Laboratory at the Institute of Science Tokyo(previously Tokyo Institute of Technology), advised by Prof. Tomoyuki Miyamoto. I completed my undergraduate studies at Suzhou University of Technology(previously Changshu Institute of Technology) in 2021, and received my B.Eng. degree in Optoelectronic Information Science and Technology. I then started the Integrated Doctor Course at Electronic and Electrical Department in Institute of Science Tokyo, receied Master degress in 2023. Since 2022 I have also been a research assistant at FIRST, Institute of Innovative Research (IIR) in Science Tokyo, where I together with lab members researching prototype IoT-enabled OWPT system and the closed-loop control&tracking towards OWPT power receiving target.
Our research for OWPT is mainly construction of close-range indoor and long-range outdoor OWPT, and also system integration. It contains various fields such as VCSEL beam-shaping, automatic laser-emission regulation, uniting optical design, semiconductor physics, and computer-vision-driven control. Research Interest Currently, I am focusing on Camera based safety system for OWPT, a method will lead to new standard for Laser Safety, Automatic Emission Control(AEC). This includes Beam Tracking, Shaping, Beam Control, Object Recognition and more. More specific topics:
- Performance and evaluation of OWPT system in mid to long distance OWPT.
- Laser power converter performance assessment and optics design for various applications.
- OWPT safety related: using sensors or cameras to fulfill AEC for safety of laser devices.
Outside the lab, I enjoy hiking and photography—occasional snapshots and trip logs appear on my blog.
